How does the ecoegg Laundry Egg work?
The Ecoegg laundry egg contains a number of small pellets and it is these pellets that are the secret to the Ecoegg laundry egg’s cleaning power.
There are two types of cleaning pellets:
The black pellets are tourmaline ceramic pellets. These weaken the adhesive forces between the dirt and fabric.
The cream pellets are mineral pellets. These naturally ionize the oxygen molecules in the water which can then penetrate deep into the fabric lifting away the dirt and grime, without fading colors or damaging the fibers.

What is tourmaline?
Tourmaline is a naturally occurring element, part of the silicate group. It occurs in many forms throughout nature and has a multitude of beneficial properties. In this case, its ability to assist in the laundry process is being utilized.
What are the cream pellets for?
Using the tourmaline pellets alone would not give a satisfactory cleaning result, so the white mineral pellets assist in the process. These pellets naturally ionize the oxygen molecules in the water which then penetrate deep into the fabric, lifting away the dirt and grime.
Do you need to use fabric softener with the Laundry Egg?
No. The ionized oxygen molecules increase the pH level of the water, which has a natural softening effect on your laundry, so you do not need to use additional fabric softener or conditioner.
Can the ecoegg Laundry Egg be used for hand washing?
Yes. Just pre-soak the ecoegg Laundry Egg in the water for 20 minutes and then hand wash as normal, allowing water to flow through the Laundry Egg.
Will the Laundry Egg harm washing machines?
No, the Laundry Egg is perfectly safe to use with all makes of washing machine.
Can you use the ecoegg Laundry Egg in a top loader washing machine?
Yes! You can use the Laundry Egg in a top loader or a front loader washing machine.
Can you leave the Laundry Egg in the machine during the rinse cycle?
The ecoegg Laundry Egg is a completely different concept to using washing detergents which all contain soap. As the Laundry Egg does not contain any ‘soap’ agents, it leaves almost no residue on your clothes. Therefore, the rinse cycle can be significantly reduced, saving water, time and electricity.
Is your ecoegg Laundry Egg not working as well as you expected?
Make sure you are not overloading your machine – the ecoegg Laundry Egg needs space to move around.
Make sure that tough stains are pre-treated – we recommend the ecoegg Instant Stain Remover.
Please remember that the ecoegg Laundry Egg does not contain any harsh chemicals and therefore cannot be compared to the clean of conventional biological washing detergents that contain toxic chemicals and bleaching agents.
Are they natural fragrances in the Laundry Egg?
Yes, they are natural fragrances that are non-irritant and non-allergen. Allergy UK have tried and tested the fragrances and endorse the ecoegg Laundry Egg and Dryer Egg.
Why is there no smell on my washing from the fragrance?
Our Laundry and Dryer Eggs were developed for people with sensitive skin and to be kind to the environment. Therefor, it is only a hint of essential oil fragrance that they smell. If you are used to a strong fragrance, then you can add essential oil in the fabric conditioner compartment of your washing machine
What type of essential oils does the Laundry Egg contain?
All ecoegg products contain a small percentage of essential oil. The Spring Blossom fragrance is made from Juniper essential oil. The Fresh Linen Fragrance is made from Patchouli essential oil.
Do you test on animals?
None of our products or their components are tested on animals.
When to refill your Laundry Egg?
The Laundry Egg needs to be refilled when it reaches the approximate half way level in the egg. This is an indication to add just one more pack of the mineral pellets.
